Visa Issues

All visitors from non EU countries must have passports or equivalent travel documents valid for at least 6 months. Please check with your local Greek Consulate or Embassy for details regarding visa and entry requirements.
Through the International Symposium XI ''Ultrafast Dynamics & Ultrafast Bandgap Photonics'' 2024 Conference secretariat there is a possibility to issue a VISA letter provided you have completed your registration. Any visa invitation letter issued is meant only to help visitors raise funds or to obtain a visa, and it is not a commitment on the part of the organizers to provide any financial support. Organizers may NOT contact Embassies in support of an individual attempting to gain entry to attend the meeting.

How to get there

By Air                                                                                                                            There are two international airports on Crete, Heraklion Airport and Chania Airport. Please choose Heraklion Airport.
Heraklion International Airport is the primary airport on the island of Crete, Greece, and the country’s second busiest airport after Athens International Airport. It is located about 5 km east of the main city center of Heraklion and ~25 km from Hersonissos and Creta Maris Hotel. The Heraklion Airport serves as a hub for Sky Express and Aegean Airlines. In addition to the airlines mentioned above, Heraklion Airport also services domestic flights to and from the other Greek islands, such as Santorini, Rhodes, Mykonos and Paros.
Flights to Heraklion are available by many airlines from various parts of Europe. These charter flights come mostly from France, Italy, Germany, Russia, Romania and the United Kingdom. You can travel to Heraklion, Crete from anywhere in the world via Athens (Greece). The distance from Athens is about 205 Miles and there are several flights a day (air time from Athens to Heraklion is about an hour).
By Ferry
Ferry boat connection between Athens (Piraeus) and Crete is available directly to Heraklion by both MINOAN Lines and ANEK Lines.  On arrival at Heraklion port travelers can choose between the bus and taxi options.
How to reach Hersonissos and the Conference hotel
The most convenient method to get to the conference hotel/venue from all locations (airport / seaport / downtown) is by taxi. The approximate fare from Heraklion Airport is 45€. Taxi transfers can be arranged and when possible, we can group participants arriving at similar times to share a taxi, thus splitting the cost. Please email to arrange this service.
Public bus to Hersonissos, KTEL
Public Bus Service departs every 30  to 45 minutes from the airport exit. Once you arrive in Hersonissos, you must  get off the bus, at stop number 20 and walk a few yards further on, towards Hersonissos where the taxi rank is and from there you can take a taxi to the hotel/conference venue at the approx., cost of 12€.
When you arrive at the Heraklion harbour, you may walk to the Public Bus Station which is within walking distance. From there, buses depart to Hersonissos, every 30 to 45 minutes depending on the tourist season. Price: ~15€
The first bus departs at 06:30 hrs and the last one at 21:00 hrs.
Once you arrive in Hersonissos, you must take a taxi to the hotel/conference venue. (See instructions above)
Renting a Car
From the airport / port / downtown area, get to the highway (follow signs to the National Road). On the highway, head East and follow the signs to Agios Nikolaos and/or Hersonissos. We propose the agency “Traffic” Rent a Car. Traffic combines a modern fleet, with a wide range of choices from conventional to luxury vehicles.
